Quantified Mind Privacy Policy

Quantified Mind is a personal journal for reflecting on mood, routines, and optional signals. It is not a medical device and does not provide diagnosis or treatment.

How the app works by default
Quantified Mind works without an account. Mood entries and the information you choose to collect stay on your device unless you turn on Sync or connect an optional service. Sync is off by default.
Information the app can process
- Mood entries. You can record a state, confidence, and an optional note. Notes remain on your device unless a feature expressly asks you to include them.
- Apple Health. With your permission, the app reads sleep and steps first. Other categories are requested only when you turn them on. The app does not write to Apple Health.
- Optional on-device sources. Motion, calendar, photo activity, weather, and selected journaling suggestions can create limited daily summaries. Quantified Mind does not read photo pixels, calendar titles, attendees, locations, notes, or journaling content.
- Account and device information. If you sign in, the service uses your email address, an account identifier, and a revocable device-session identifier to provide access and secure your account.
- Connected services and imports. If you choose to connect a provider or import an export, Quantified Mind stores only the information needed for that connection and the derived, source-labelled summaries described in the app. Provider credentials stay on the server and are encrypted. For private-message exports, the intended processing path produces aggregates locally; message bodies, attachments, and contact identities are not uploaded by default.
What Sync sends
When you enable Sync, Quantified Mind sends only approved daily aggregates and the identifiers needed to associate them with your account and device. Depending on the sources you enable, this can include a date, timezone, sleep duration, steps, optional daily heart metrics, a mood state, or similarly limited daily summaries. You can control collection, local insights, and aggregate Sync separately in Settings.
Third-party transfers
Weather is optional. Before it is enabled, the app explains that coarse coordinates and timezone are sent directly to Open-Meteo to retrieve a local forecast. Quantified Mind does not receive those coordinates. If you connect a service such as Bluesky or Mastodon, that provider receives the authorization and API requests needed to operate the connection. Their privacy policies also apply.
How information is used
Information is used to show your journal, local insights, optional synchronized history, and the features you choose to enable. Quantified Mind does not sell personal information, use it for cross-app advertising, or use it to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Retention and deletion
You can erase local source data in Settings. You can disconnect a connected service while preserving its prior summaries, or disconnect and erase the selected service’s derived data. You can delete your account from the app’s Account settings; this removes server-held account data, connected-service records, uploads, and device sessions. Deleting an account does not erase records that remain only on your device or data held by an external provider. You can also request help at the contact address above.
Security
Quantified Mind uses encrypted transport for network requests. Connected-service credentials are kept on the server rather than in the mobile app. No system can guarantee absolute security; use a unique password or provider-specific app password where a provider offers one.
Your choices and regional rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, or export of server-held information by contacting us. Where applicable law provides additional rights, including rights under the GDPR or California law, we will respond to a verified request. Quantified Mind does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Children
Quantified Mind is not directed to children under 13. Do not create an account for a child under 13.
Changes
Material changes will be posted here with an updated effective date. Continued use after a change means you have had an opportunity to review the revised policy.
